Introducing the Profile XT (PXT) Assessment Technology

At Profiles, Inc. we like to provide visuals to assist our clients in thinking through the recruiting process. We think of job candidates as an Iceberg. During the interview process the candidate only lets us see what they think the hiring manager wants to see. As we know with Icebergs, the biggest piece of the Iceberg is below the surface. So too is the essence of the total person. By using the ProfileXT Assessment which was developed by Profiles International, the hiring manager can now understand what their candidate will be like to work with even if they cannot meet face to face. The assessment provides specific data about the candidate’s cognitive abilities, how the individual learns, processes, assimilates and reasons with both verbal and numeric types of information. This specific data on 9 key behaviors will allow the hiring manager to truly understand what this person will be like in a work environment, including what to expect in stressful situations. Answers to the Profile XT assessment also provides valuable feedback about the specific activities the candidate enjoys doing when they come to work. Having this key data allows the hiring manager to optimize a candidate’s fit for a specific role during these times when face to face meetings may not be an option.

Our clients often ask us what weight should the ProfileXT assessment have in the decisions process?

Keeping with our visual images, we suggest that our clients think of the interviewing process as a 3-legged stool. The first leg is the resume to determine skills and experience. The second leg is interviewing to determine cultural fit. The third leg is the Profiles XT assessment. If the hiring manager misses on any of the three legs obviously the stool will tip over. Thus, we suggest that the Profiles XT assessment should comprise of a one-third weighting in this process. Profiles, Inc. is getting a great deal of positive feedback on the importance of having this below the surface data for each candidate, which in turn assists the manager in conducting a productive hiring process.
