Every day we read in the news and on social media about the “Great Resignation”. In 2021 over 40,000 people resigned from their jobs, with more than 4,000 of them taking place in November of that year. Employee engagement, defined as the level of enthusiasm and dedication a worker feels towards their job, is between 36%-50% depending on the studies you review. In a recent survey, a question was asked of hiring managers: Do you have the right people in the right roles to execute your business strategy?  76% said NO! It’s no wonder that organizations are struggling with their employee hiring and retention efforts.

We at Profiles, Incorporated have been working with our clients to optimize their ability to recruit people and leverage their natural strengths. This optimizes an individual’s potential, which equates to talent optimization. In other words, job fit.

So specifically, what is JOB FIT? It is the degree of alignment between an individual’s cognitive and behavioral traits and interests in a job and work environment in relation to the open position. Establishing a good fit helps identify and place individuals in positions where they are likely to perform at their full potential, which in turn will increase their level of dedication and engagement in their job.

The Profiles PXT Select assessment can really help organizations get the right people in the right role. It measures twenty key parameters in three highly relevant categories:

  1. Cognitive traits
  2. Behavior traits
  3. Work activity interests

Candidates applying for a job take the PXT Select assessment and produce their cognitive, behavioral and interests profile. Then, their profiles are compared to the performance model for the job they are applying for. This helps determine where the candidate shares common characteristics to those required to be successful in the position. Evaluating a candidate’s skills and experience is simply not enough to determine success in a job. How that candidate delivers their skills and experience really matters in that success equation. Every person or company is unique with a series of strengths, weaknesses, cultures and characteristics. When identified, combined and utilized, they can be a powerful tool in maximizing workplace satisfaction, productivity and engagement. Some studies indicate that optimizing job fit can lower turnover by 42%.
